Our independent control function provides additional assurance to senior management. Our job is to drive effective governance, product management, and project control frameworks. Sound governance and control is at the heart of everything we do here, and it’s provided a firm foundation for six successive years of profit growth. We have a broad mix of roles available for outstanding professionals from a risk, audit, compliance or similar background.
Reporting to the highest levels of management both globally and locally, our Internal Audit Division conducts in-depth analyses to identify the risks, making sure that these are managed and controlled in the most robust way possible.

We have a number of different specialist functions, which provide expertise and guidance to Santander’s diverse range of divisions. They include; Regulatory Risk, Credit Risk, Operational Risk, IT Risk, Risks within Finance and Risks within our Financial Markets businesses and divisions.
Our Corporate Risk division focuses mainly on exposures above £1m, working closely with the Front Office under our credit partner operating model.
The Wholesale Risk division is responsible for market risk, product control, counterparty credit risk and the validation of Basel II models across Santander UK.
Retail Credit Risk
The Retail Credit Risk division is responsible for all aspects of managing credit risks associated with selling products to individual consumers. This includes designing and managing credit policies and underwriting applications for credit.

Internal Governance & Compliance
The Governance & Control function is responsible for overseeing the banks governance framework. This includes providing challenge on key areas of risk, identified through investigative analysis, as well as monitoring the effective execution of our control framework, including quality assurance mechanisms, governance committees, meetings and forums.
The Products Control function is responsible for independently overseeing our product governance framework. It also monitors and risk assesses our portfolio, giving key insights that effect the product approval, launch, post implementation review process and monitoring the ongoing performance of products to identify areas of emerging or crystallised risk.
Regulatory Projects Control
The Regulatory Products Control function is responsible for assessing the potential impact of regulatory developments, monitoring and providing challenge on the progress of existing regulatory projects, approving budgetary spends for regulatory projects and monitoring and reporting delivery of FCA actions and information requests.
The Compliance function plays a key role in helping us manage regulatory risks. Compliance sets our high-level regulatory risk policies, with the aim of minimising our exposure to regulatory risk.
